Tina Struthers is a textile and visual artist who  lives and works in the greater Montreal region, born in Cape Town South-Africa. Her art practice includes exhibitions, cultural mediation projects , public art instillations and costume design. Specializing in combining fiber and textile elements, she creates large scale textile abstraction in her professional art practice. 

Her work has been exhibited regionally, nationally and internationally. Solo exhibition include, “CODEX I”, at gallery de la ville, Montreal, and “soixante17″ at the Regional Museum of Vaudreuil-Soulanges. She has been selected for various international textile art biennales, most notably the” KPS International textile Biennail 2017″ in Belgium  and the “VII World Textile art Biennale of International contemporary Textile”  in Montevideo, Uruguay where she received a mention of honour for her selected artwork. Public art commissions amongst others include ” UNITÉ DANS LA DIVERSITÉ ” , “JE M’ATTACHE À LA CULTURE,  and “Plus haut Plus loin” installed at the town hall of the city of Vaudreuil-Dorion, QC, 

Theatrical costume experienece includes 15 main stage productions as wardrobe first hand for the Grand Theatre London Ontario, Assistant cutter for The Hobbit, and assistant cutter for Handel’s Giulio Cesare Opera », Orchestra London, Ontario. Designing and constructing costumes various French theater productions in Quebec as well as  for the  Hudson players club’s « A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Peter Pan Pantomime and the Great Gatsby.

Struthers is a recipient of grants from the Quebec and Canada arts council and various prizes and mentions. Her formal training started at the Open window art academy where she studied Visual communication with Fine art specialization, after which the focus of her work shifted to using textile as her principal medium.
